Public Education

The American Ex-Prisoners of War does not want to glorify war. We want to glorify freedom. But freedom has its cost. And no one is better qualified to speak about the cost of freedom than POWs, who gave up their precious liberty so that others might remain free.

That's why the foundation supports plans to establish speakers in Chapters as soon as possible for POWs to bring their wartime and pow experience to Schools, Civic Organizations, Military Bases ROTC units and even Churches. Our goal is to bring these stories to fellow Americans, especially children, before mortality causes these vivid, first hand recollections to fade into obilivan. With World War II, Vietnam, and Koran Veterans dying at the rate of more than 1,000 a day, we cannot afford to waste a moment of time
